Unified comms - a total waste of money...

Unified communications (UC) is a total waste of money unless you redesign your business processes to take advantage of the new communication methods (Unified comms is at a tipping point, says Gartner analyst). The road is littered with far too many companies that thought this technology, as with other supposed magic wands (CRM/ERP, anyone?), would save the day.

You need to take a long look at each of your work flows and determine exactly where and what role UC will play in the new business processes, as well as exception management with defined user roles to handle them when they do happen – which they will.

I would suggest taking the insertion of UC into your business in steps. Big Bang approaches usually do not work and frequently annoy the user base which already has a problem trusting IT.
