HTC set to release Glamor smartphone just for women

Handset comes with diet and shopping apps

Tech Boutique is excited by news that HTC is about to reveal a smartphone just for women. The HTC Glamor is expected to be available in pink, yellow and light blue.

HTC's plans to launch the first women-centric Android smartphone have been reported since May, but PocketNow has leaked the first images of the new smartphone, which indicate that it is likely to be released soon.

HTC held discussions a month ago with a selection of women in their 20s and 30s to hear what features they wanted from a smartphone, according to blogging site This is My Next.

Previously codenamed Bliss, the new HTC phone is said to boast a number of unique
applications and hardware specifications to appeal to the female demographic.

The most useful feature is a charm that hangs from the handset on a string and lights up when the owner has a message or missed call. The charm will be especially useful to women who tend to have trouble finding their phones in large handbags.

Many of the other women-friendly features could offend potential buyers, however, including the diet and shopping apps, the phone's rubber backing and the 'calming wallpapers'.

Tech Boutique wants to know why women need to be kept calm? And HTC seems to be saying with the rubber backing that women are more clumsy with their smartphones than their male friends.

The diet apps have to be the most offensive. Not all women who want a girly phone necessarily want an application to record their calorie intake.

It is still not clear whether all the features on the leaked HTC Bliss will be on the HTC Glamor, but if they are it seems that HTC has a slightly outdated view on life.
