Oracle finds i2's company

Enterprise software firms enter into partnership

Oracle IS trying to im-prove the reputation of its ERP and manufacturing applications by teaming up with the Texas-based software supplier i2, writes Janice McGinn.

It will integrate i2's Rhythm supply-and-demand software with its own systems, enabling Oracle to distribute and license i2's full suite of supply chain planning software.

Until last August, i2 was expected to ally itself with SAP, but the German giant backed out when the two companies reportedly disagreed over pricing. Don Klaiss, Oracle vice president of manufacturing and distribution products, commented: 'i2 is a logical partner to deliver functionality to our industrial customers.'

In addition to the joint application suites, both partners will offer integrated sales and implementation methodologies. i2 is also launching an Oracle business unit to handle everything from pre-sales to implementation and development.

Sanjiv Sidhu, chief executive of i2, said: 'The team will have full responsibility for this partnership worldwide.'
