BT under fire over PBX claim

BT has been criticised following its claims that private branch exchange (PBX) switches will not work with its Business Highway ISDN service.
The telco's Business Highway website says that to get this functionality customers must upgrade to more expensive ISDN or leased line options.
The common questions page on BT's home page says: "Business Highway cannot be used through a switch (PBX) and does not support Direct Dial In (DDI) or Line Hunting, whereas ISDN 2e does."
Adrian Kennard of integrator and BT ISDN reseller Andrews & Arnold said: "This is a blanket statement and not entirely true." Businesses could be forced to upgrade to ISDN when they don't need to, he added.
"Most ISDN PBXs will operate in point-to-point or point-multipoint systems. BT is incorrect to say this is not the case."
