Telstra adds remote backup to SME services
Telstra adds remote backup tools to its portfolio with Iron Mountain offer
Telstra has become the latest service provider to add a remote backup service to its business portfolio, giving firms the option of using Iron Mountain’s Digital software solution to automatically replicate data from employee desktop and laptop PCs to its hosted data centre in Docklands.
Tiny Haynes, hosting product manager at Telstra Europe, believes the service is ideal for sites with no resident IT staff, as employees themselves can choose which files to back up and restore automatically from the software client.
“It’s aimed at branch offices or SMEs where there is no shared server on site, or where there is no cast iron backup policy, though [central] IT departments can still dictate which type of files not to back up, life MP3s,” he said.
Telstra charges £9 per GB of data backed up, to a maximum of £73 for 30GB.
