IT professionals still job hunting despite recession
Confident individuals not scared of finding better-paid jobs elsewhere, says survey
Confident IT professionals are not afraid of job hunting
Some 69 per cent of IT professionals are still looking at the market for new work opportunities despite the tough employment conditions, according to research.
Recruitment consultancy Robert Walters polled 310 IT staff across the UK and found that 33 per cent do not feel the downturn affects their chances of finding a new job.
According to the study, ambition in the IT sector has not dwindled and those who remained in employment are upbeat about progressing in their careers and moving on to better-paid jobs.
“For many looking for work, the job market is extremely tough at present. However, the outlook has not changed for many experienced professionals who are confident there is work available in their field,” said associate director of IT recruitment at Robert Walters, James Parker.
“Employees feel it is important to be competitive and move roles every few years in order to broaden their skills and experience.”
