Pro 5 scores for Ipswitch

Ipswitch has announced version 5 of its WS_FTP Pro file transfer utility for Windows 95 and NT. Already a popular tool among internet power users, version 5 offers a Windows Explorer-style interface with support for drag and drop, making the whole FTP process as simple as any other Windows file operation. The 'classic' WS_FTP interface has also been retained.

WS_FTP Pro 5.0 builds on the successful features of previous versions, enhancing its support of new host and firewall types. It also performs critical file and directory operations, including the ability to view or execute a file by way of configurable helper applications; change or make a directory; access directory information; and refresh the displays.

Among other file operations, users can delete and rename files, and sort directories. In addition, it lets users store 'session properties', which can automate the process of connecting and logging on to frequently visited remote sites. Users can create multiple profiles for quick and easy access to multiple FTP servers.

WS_FTP Pro 5.0 is available immediately, with a US list price of $37.50 (site licence pricing is available in quantities of 10 or more). Upgrades from version 4.x will be available directly from the Ipswitch web site for just $19.95.
