Flybe lays off IT staff
Ten IT jobs to go and another 20 at risk as part of "departmental restructuring"
Job losses are on the horizon for IT staff at Flybe
Low-cost airline Flybe is making 10 technology staff redundant out of its 60-strong IT department, with a further 20 roles being put at risk, Computing has learned.
Consultations are due to finish within one to two weeks, and those affected will receive minimum statutory payments, said a source.
The airline has confirmed that a "departmental restructuring" is taking place, but said that the redundancies are not linked to the macroeconomic conditions.
Flybe is the UK's biggest regional airline, with 7.5 million passengers last year. It recently offered to refund the cost of a holiday to customers if it has to be cancelled due to redundancy, in a bid to boost declining sales.
