A survey has shown that companies are dissatisfied with the level of service they are getting from ISPs and are choosing to host websites internally as a result.

Research by network market-analysis company Rhetorik showed that of the 229 companies surveyed, 63 per cent had chosen to host their websites internally. Where management of the site content was concerned, 92 per cent retained control in-house.Richard Foskett, MD of Rhetorik said: "Most of the complaints were reporting things going wrong with their site and when they spoke to the ISP they were not getting the response they wanted from the help desk."He added that the move towards hosting sites internally was possible due to the increasing use of high-speed data links in medium-sized companies.Around 40 per cent of companies questioned had Kilostream and Megastream connections while 28 per cent used ISDN.
