CTP repository will be a tonic for Bupa's systems
A pioneering UK developer of object-re-use technology is about to help Bupa's business launch into Ireland.
Cambridge Technology Partners (CTP) has just completed development of a sophisticated client-server policy, billing and customer service system for the UK health insurance giant. The system, unveiled at the opening of CTP's offices in Dublin last week, is expected to go live next month.
CTP's key technology is its object repository, which stores re-usable code and application frameworks. The customer inherits this store of code, which provides a ready-made selection of 'parts' with which to build new systems, or upgrade existing ones.
Steve Cutting, CTP UK marketing director, said: 'Re-use has enabled us to shave off weeks from project times and stick to fixed-price projects.'
Guardian Insurance, part of the Guardian Royal Exchange Group, said it has used CTP technology to improve sluggish claims settling, implemented image and workflow systems.
Guardian IT manager Padraic Mills said: 'In some cases, third-part injury claims involving multiple claimants were held up for 10 years.'
