Questions for Oracle InterOffice
Oracle has shed 14 staff from its InterOffice development team, only weeks after questions emerged over the future of the database vendor?s groupware and application management product as a corporate tool, writes Cath Everett.
The company has denied reports that it was repositioning the ill-fated InterOffice away from the corporate market to focus on Internet service providers. Last week it claimed the latest move is due to overlap across some of its development groups.
?This is not related to any corporate decommitment to the InterOffice product, but simply to a decision to streamline and further integrate the development efforts for this product since it became part of Oracle?s application server division in November,? Oracle said in a written statement.
The staff have a month to find new jobs ?within Oracle or elsewhere?.
InterOffice was launched in 1995 as a rival to Microsoft?s BackOffice enterprise management suite.
