Chips are down with Intel
Intel cut the prices of some laptop computer chips by almost half last week in anticipation of introducing the Pentium III for mobile computers later this year. In its first such price cut since 13 June, Intel slashed its fastest mobile offering, the 400MHz Pentium II, by 32 per cent. The 366MHz version dropped 41 per cent and the 400MHz Celeron fell by 43 per cent.
