GlaxoSmithKline deploys new IT infrastructure

Pharmaceutical and healthcare company integrates its data

Pharmaceutical and healthcare company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is deploying a new IT infrastructure across its global operations to improve the integration of its data.

The software supplied by Autonomy is meaning-based and so forms a conceptual and contextual understanding of any piece of electronic data including unstructured information, including text, email, voice or video.

‘It was essential for us to select an infrastructure that could integrate all of our data regardless of format, scale and maintain performance,’ said Ingo Elfering, vice president of global application services.

‘Our decision to underpin and automate a wide spectrum of information processing operations globally enables the company to minimise the costs and risks of transacting real-time digital information while simultaneously maximising its value,’ said Elfering.
