Top 10 vnunet.com articles, 6 Feb 09

Google caused the most excitement among vnunet.com readers this week, with no fewer than four entries in the top 10 most popular articles.

The search giant started the week on a low point with news that an error by one of its staff added a danger warning to every web site returned in Google search results. Google also extended its Earth tool to map underwater surfaces, and launched a new location-sharing tool dubbed Latitude.

Elsewhere the big news was around Microsoft's Windows 7. Microsoft announced that the forthcoming operating system would skip any more beta stages and the next step would be a Release Candidate version; but security concerns are already being flagged up for the new OS. Ex-Microsoft chief executive Bill Gates also hit the headlines with a rather unusual approach to highlighting third-world disease.
