Crossrail seeks provider for £14m contract

System will be key to building the new high-speed line linking east and west London

Crossrail, the company that is building a high-speed passenger railway line connecting central London to areas east and west of the city, is looking for an IT provider to implement technology to co-ordinate the construction of the line.

The company has put out an Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) notice — a preliminary notice for potential suppliers — for a deal worth £14m excluding VAT for a provider to organise traffic co-ordination services and a vehicle movement booking system (VMBS).

The technology will underpin the planning and co-ordination of all logistics relating to the contruction of the Crossrail infrastructure.

The scope of services that Crossrail expects of its chosen supplier will include providing a VMBS that is capable of capturing planned and actual delivery data with ongoing operation, maintenance and technical support.

The deadline for bids is noon on 18 April 2011.
