Red Hat steps up cloud presence with NTT Communications

NTT Communications has extended its use of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualisation

Telecoms giant NTT Communications has extended its use of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualisation and is now using Red Hat Enterprise Linux to host its cloud computing and hosting service offering.

In addition to using Red Hat technology as part of its own solution, Biz Hosting Basic, NTT is also offering Red Hat Enterprise products through this cloud solution.

"NTT Communications has based both its infrastructure and its technical solution on our technology. It is also offering our products to customers through their cloud," explained Mike Ferris, director of product marketing at Red Hat.

He added that the firm had chosen Red Hat's technology specifically because of its security, scale and ability to meet the demands of cloud computing.

"By working with cloud providers, we can offer enterprise customers the same benefits that we have provided on-premises to date, through this ecosystem of certified cloud providers," he added.

NTT Communications, which ranked 31st in the 2010 Global Fortune 500 list, and Red Hat first partnered in the cloud in April 2010 when NTT Communications joined Red Hat's cloud ecosystem as a Red Hat Premier Certified Cloud Provider.
