Nuance upgrades voice app with social networking

Dragon Naturally Speaking becomes Dragon naturally tweeting

Voice recognition expert Nuance has upgraded its speech application, Dragon Naturally Speaking, to version 11.5, adding new social media functions and an iOS application to turn Apple devices into a remote wireless microphone.

Neil Grant, Nuance sales director for UK, South Africa and Benelux, said: "We've added direct input to Facebook and Twitter applications, making it easy to post Facebook updates and Tweet automatically."

For iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad users, Nuance has also added a Remote Mic App. Apple device owners can control their PCs over a wireless network, allowing them to dictate straight into Office 2010 apps and control those applications.

The Remote Mic App is now available for free, as an Apple App Store download.

Nuance has also added support for Internet Explorer 9, commands to drive Office 2010 applications using voice commands, and better correcting and editing functions, as well as made it quicker for users to create a voice profile.

"We've also added support for Windows Live Mail 2011 and OpenOffice Writer version 3.3," added Grant.

There are five versions of Nuance's package: Home, Premium, Premium Mobile, Premium Wireless, Premium Student/Teacher and a high-end Professional version - all of which will be generally available this week. Prices start from £79.99 incl. VAT.
