Post Office to re-procure its managed IT services

Separation from Royal Mail leads to IT overhaul

The Post Office has released a prior information notice that says it will re-procure all its managed IT services to continue its split from the Royal Mail.

"As part of its organisational transformation and separation from Royal Mail Group, Post Office Limited intends to re-procure the full range of managed IT services supporting both its administrative and customer-facing environments," the notice reads.

The notice said the re-procurement of contractors is advertised under two separate Online Journal European Union (OJEU) notices.

The first of the OJEU notices will cover "the service integration and service desk function [which] will provide assurance and management of end-to-end IT services to the Post Office business. It [will also] combine and manage the technical services provided by the delivery tower contractors".

Other IT services are to be outlined in the second OJEU notice, which is yet to be released.

The prior information notice says the current plan is to award a contract or contracts in relation to the applications, data centre, infrastructure, networks and workplace between late June and early September 2013.

Last month, a separate public tender said the Post Office was seeking an IT services provider to help transform the organisation, in a two-year deal worth up to £150m.
