Orange Business Services wins global network deal
Contract is for WAN services, secure internet and traffic optimisation for 280 Rio Tinto sites across the globe
Orange Business Services (OBS) has won a contract with UK-based mining firm Rio Tinto to supply WAN services to its 280 sites globally.
The five-year deal includes the provision of satellite access and secure internet gateways on top of network management and traffic optimisation.
OBS will also provide consulting and project management services under the deal.
The companies have already been working together on various programmes for 10 years.
Scott Singer, head of global business services at Rio Tinto, said that OBS had been helpful with his firm's deals to both purchase and separate from other companies in that time.
"Over the past decade, Orange's technology and service solutions have supported our divestment and acquisition activities," said Singer.
"[OBS will] support our growth programme, especially in developing nations where we will leverage Orange's far-reaching network capabilities," he added.
