Asus Transformer Pad Infinity confirmed for August UK release

No word on price for Transformer Prime follow up

Asus has confirmed its new Transformer Pad Infinity tablet will hit UK shelves this August.

However, although the Asus representatives confirmed to V3 the month, they were unable to provide an exact date.

"It will be released at some time in August, I can't tell you for sure the exact day, but it will be by the end of the month," said the Asus spokesman.

The Infinity was first unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in January. The company claims that the tablet is the world's first full HD Android tablet, featuring a HD 1920x1200 Super IPS+ display with Gorilla Glass 2 that boasts 178-degree viewing angles.

The device will also feature the same Qwerty keyboard docking station synonymous with all Transformer series tablets.

The dock reportedly boosts the tablet's basic 9.5 hour battery life to 14 hours and features its own multi-touch pad and USB/SD card ports.

The device is powered by a powerful 1.6GHz quad-core CPU and runs using Google's Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

The Infinity also packs an 8MP rear camera with auto-focus and an LED flash capable of recording full HD 1080p video at 30fps, which is backed up by a 2MP front-facing unit.

As a standalone tablet the device measures in at 263x181x8.5mm and weighs 598g. It will be available in 32GB or 64GB storage models.

Asus hasn't given either device a firm UK price. Check back with V3 in August for a full review when it's available.
