HTC chief operating officer steps down as revenues rebound

Company reports jump in revenues as executive exodus continues

HTC has reported a rise in revenues, though the report was tempered by news that yet another high-level executive was leaving the company.

The mobile hardware firm said that in May it logged some $29.0bn New Taiwan (roughly $970m) in revenues. These are said to be the highest recorded by HTC in around 11 months, though for the year the figure marks a 3.3 percent decline.

Further adding to HTC's woes is the departure of chief operating officer Matthew Costello. Multiple reports indicate that Costello will be resigning his position, marking the latest in a high-profile line of departures from the firm.

Previous employee departures have suggested internal turmoil at HTC with departing employeees urging those still within the company to consider other sources of employment.

The report also arrives after word that the company is losing ground in the US market. Research firm Comscore found that over the last month HTC saw its share of the US market decline from 9.7 percent to just 8.9 percent of the total market. The decline came at the benefit of Apple, which gained 1.4 percent and Samsung, whose share grew 0.6 percent.

The release also comes as HTC works to move on beyond an embarrassing product delay. Last month the firm said that it would be pushing back the UK release of its Facebook-integrated First handset following worries that the phone's software was not yet ready for release.
