Top 10 most read: 3D printer for £699, Xbox for business, Sony accepts PlayStation hacking fine

3D printing is set to shake up the manufacturing world, and electronics retailer Maplin is clearly keen to get in early on the action, offering the Velleman K8200 3D printer for just £700. The relatively low cost could make it a popular model with small design shops, educational establishments and individual hobbyists.

Also popular with V3 readers last week was the news that Google had fixed a security vulnerability affecting 99 percent of all Android devices, although the web giant noted that it had yet to see any evidence suggesting the flaw has been actively exploited by cyber criminals.

The government unveiled its overhauled computing curriculum last Monday, which will see children as young as five taught about programming and algorithms, while basics like how to use Microsoft Word will no longer be a requisite.

Elsewhere, Microsoft is pushing its upcoming Xbox model as a business tool, while Sony has finally accepted a £250,000 fine from the Information Commissioner's Office over hackers accessing data on thousands of PlayStation users.
