CES 2015: Lenovo reveals Yoga 3 powered by 5th-gen Intel Core processor
Company boosts device size with 14in display
LAS VEGAS: Lenovo has expanded its Yoga laptop line-up with new devices in different sizes and configurations, including the Yoga 3, a thinner and lighter model with the familiar 360-degree rotating hinge.
The Yoga 3 features a similar chassis size as previous 13in Yoga devices but with a 14in display.
Weighing 1.6kg, the 14in model will be powered by Intel's upcoming 5th-generation Core processor, based on the Broadwell architecture.
The smallest model in the new Yoga family, the 11in laptop which replaces the IdeaPad Yoga 11S, measures just 15.8mm thick and is powered by Intel's less powerful Core M processor.
It will come with a 256GB or 500GB SSD option and promises up to seven hours of battery life on a single charge.
Lenovo's Yoga 3 devices will also feature the firm's existing Intelligent harmony software updates, which seek to optimise settings such as enabling motion control, adjusting sound, suggesting new apps and dropping brightness levels to save battery, for example.
The software also optimises settings automatically in the four different modes, which are the same as on other yoga laptops: tent, stand, laptop, tablet. Both Yoga 3 models will be available in orange, black, white and silver.
Lenovo also unveiled the Yoga Flex 3 at CES, an extension of the existing Flex 2 family.
The Flex 3 comes in an 11in form factor, which is a new size for the Flex line-up. It also brings a new 360-degree hinge like the Yoga range to give the four modes as explained above but at a lower price.
The Flex 3 will start at just $299 when it arrives in the US, available in 11in, 14in and 15in form factors in white, black and red.
The firm also unveiled the C series All-in-one desktop PC family, arriving in 19.5in, 21.5in or 23in sizes and starting at $349.
These white or black devices will run Windows 8.1, with the option for 10-point touch screen and Intel's fourth-gen Core i5 processor featuring a DVD burner and Nvidia Geforce graphics.
The 11in Yoga 3 will be available in February at £549.99, via Dixons, John Lewis, Amazon & Lenovo.com. The 14in edition will be available in April with models starting at £649.99, with retailers still to be confirmed.
