American Express Global Business Travel selects NetSuite OneWorld for 'flexibility, efficiency and reliability'

Amex GBT takes first step in throwing out on-premise IT in favour of the cloud with NetSuite deal

Global corporate travel agency American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) has selected NetSuite's OneWorld solution to run its entire global financial operations, citing its "flexibility, efficiency and reliability".

GBT is a joint venture between American Express and an investor group led by private investment firm Certares. It was only established in June 2014, but employs 14,000 staff across 140 countries. It provides services including corporate travel, consulting, proprietary research, meetings programme management and event management.

GBT claims that it provides all of these services through a combination of booking technology, analytics and global strategic partnerships.

The travel agency had made a business decision to shift from on-premise IT to the cloud after the joint-venture agreement was signed and, in the case of its financial operations, decided on the NetSuite OneWorld solution.

"We chose NetSuite because we were impressed with the flexibility of its cloud-based ERP, which is essential to supporting our business as we continue to transform and grow," said Steve Curts, chief strategy officer at American Express GBT.

"The dashboard-driven capabilities of NetSuite OneWorld provide real-time visibility into our global operations, allowing us to operate more efficiently and reliably, which our customers value in our company," he added.

NetSuite CEO Zach Nelson said that the firm was "excited" to have been selected by American Express GBT as a key partner in its global transformation as a new company.
