AA chooses Tibco for first phase of business and IT transformation programme
Tibco was chosen because of its ability to 'execute in an environment where a high rate of change is expected'
AA, the motoring organisation and general insurance broker, has chosen Tibco's products and services to help it in its business and IT transformation programme.
The AA wanted to be able to share its data with third-party organisations such as price comparison websites, and also improve its analysis of risk and customised pricing. It was looking to build a platform for the integration of its in-house system with those of its partner companies, and also respond in real time to events.
"We were looking for an experienced partner able to provide both technology and the expertise needed to facilitate a fundamental aspect of our business and IT transformation programme," said John East, head of enterprise architecture at AA.
"Tibco was chosen based both on an excellent technical fit, plus the ability to execute in an environment where a high rate of change is expected, and performance and availability are of paramount importance," he added.
The AA will begin its Tibco project by using Tibco's Enterprise Message Service Appliance - a hardware appliance that aims to simplify the management of large messaging implementations. The firm will then add Tibco ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks 6, an enterprise integration platform, which has an open API along with other features that Tibco claims are aimed at "exposing data as real-time events or API services to customers, employees and partners needing to exchange data in real time".
The AA is also using Tibco's professional services, working with a project manager and integration architect from the software company, who will assist with the design and planning stages of the programme.
AA's East said that the products selected will enable the organisation to "build an integration platform to meet both immediate and future requirements", adding that "engagement with Tibco architects and professional services had given us increased confidence in our ability to successfully execute the planned programme".
