Top 10 most read: Hacking Team attack, politicians 'hacked' over WiFi and Microsoft job cuts

Biggest stories of the past seven days on V3

The news was dominated last week by the hack on Italian surveillance software firm Hacking Team, and the theft and publication of its data that threw up all kinds of interesting information.

This was clearly of interest to V3 readers, as the information ranged from claims that the FBI was a customer of the company, to the uncovering of major flaws in Adobe Flash that the hackers were using to infiltrate systems.

In other security related news, F-Secure highlighted the dangers of using unknown, unsecured public WiFi connections by 'hacking' into the machines of three politicians - with their authority - to show how easily sensitive information can be stolen.

Finally, Microsoft confirmed it was cutting another 8,000 jobs from its phone unit, essentially writing off its $5.44bn purchase of Nokia as CEO Satya Nadella looks to refocus and reduce the firm's phone output.
