Lenovo opens UK Technology Centre to showcase server and storage offerings
New facility will highlight Lenovo's server and storage portfolio, as well as technology from partners
Lenovo has become the latest enterprise vendor to open a facility in the UK to showcase infrastructure solutions to customers.
The Lenovo Technology Centre in Basingstoke is part of an ongoing commitment to work with partners and drive growth in the server market, the firm said.
The centre will offer a permanent demonstration space for Lenovo's server and storage portfolio, including technology from partners including Microsoft, Nutanix, Kellway and Pivot3, to demonstrate enterprise solutions in a live environment, Lenovo explained.
The move comes just a year after Lenovo completed the integration of IBM's x86 server business assets in the UK and Ireland, following the closure of the global acquisition the previous year.
This acquisition handed Lenovo a ready-made presence in the server market, propelling it instantly into the position of third largest global vendor in the space.
Lenovo said that the new centre can run complex proof-of-concepts for end users to better help them realise product benefits and to interact with Lenovo experts.
"The centre opening is a key milestone in our journey to accelerate the server business, and has been a true collaboration with partners to drive incremental revenue opportunities and reduce time-to-value for customers," said Guy England, director of Lenovo's Enterprise Business Group.
The centre also connects to Lenovo's partner web and the brand's global innovation and research and development facilities in China, Scotland and Germany, giving visitors access to technical and design resources across the globe.
"As IT continues its transition towards revenue generator and business transformer, open partnerships are critical for businesses wishing to maintain competitive edge. We're pleased to offer new facilities that equip our partners with the capabilities and resources to help businesses across all sectors tackle this challenge," said England.
Lenovo's move comes just weeks after Hewlett Packard Enterprise launched a Customer Engagement Centre in the City of London. This has similar aims to serve as a demonstration space that can be used to showcase solutions and enable direct dialogue between customers and engineers.
