The top Amiga games you can play on your iPhone or Android
The Commodore Amiga was renowned for its vast library of exellent games including Lemmings, Cannon Fodder and Sensible Soccer. But which can you play right now on your mobile?
The Commodore Amiga was one of the machines to define the home computing era of the late '80s and '90s, with its superb sound and graphics capabilities and its affordability.
And a healthy ecosystem of games developers quickly sprung up around it, with a host of titles released on the platform which are today rightfully regarded as classics.
And the good news is that some of these vaunted games are available right now on your mobile device. If the Spectrum era is more your thing then we've got you covered right here, but for now, sit back and enjoy our rundown of the best Amiga titles available on iOS and Android.
1. Beneath a Steel Sky: Remastered
Yours for £2.99, this is basically the original Beneath a Steel Sky, ported over to mobile operating systems. The major difference is that instead of going 'pixel hunting', searching for the right part of the screen to click on for your item or clue, the remastered edition re-imagines the mechanic for the modern era and gives you 'item hotspots' to look for.
Besides that it's the original cyberpunk science-fiction point-and-click adventure you remember from 1994, and that can only be a good thing.

2. Another World - 20th Anniversary A platform-based adventure game from 1991, Another World casts the player as Lester Knight Chaykin, a physicist who soon finds himself stranded on an alien planet after an experiment to recreate the big bang goes wrong.
Available today for £3.99 on mobile devices, it is basically the same original game, but with the control system redesigned for touch screens. Some users have complained of the new system being slightly troublesome, but most have given it high ratings.
The game is known as 'Out of this World' in the US.

3. Tales of Monkey Island
Admittedly this isn't quite the original Secret of Monkey Island, which placed a respectable 19th in our all-time rankings of the best ever Amiga games, but this is as close as you're going to get on a mobile device.
An episodic take on the format, this is a graphics adventure which was released in 2009. Costing £2.99 per episode, some have viewed it as a bit of a cynical money grab, however it will pleasure the nostalgia glands of fans of the original.
In keeping with tradition, players assume the character of the much-loved Guybrush Threepwood (has there ever been a better-named video game protagonist? Discuss), and are set against the piratey nemesis LeChuck.

But wait there's more! Whilst the library of Amiga games to have been ported to mobile devices remains small (with some which were available in the past to have mysteriously disappeared, licensing issues we're guessing), there is a way to get just about any game you fancy working on your Android device (with apologies to iOS users).
You start by downloading the surprisingly free Amiga emulator UAE4Droid to your device, then it's simply a matter of buying the ROM (the game files) of your favourite titles - most of which are available at Amiga fansite Amiga Forever.
So, Lemmings on your new Samsung Galaxy A5 (the Samsung phone which DOESN'T catch fire)? Sure you can. Or, our pick for best Amiga game of all time, Sensible World of Soccer? Step right up.
