Watch as Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy is 3D printed

Guardians of the Galaxy, the successful Marvel film following the adventures of Star-Lord and chums, will shortly receive a sequel as lead Chris Pratt returns for a second outing.
And one of the first film's best-loved characters, tree-like alien Groot, has been recreated by a 3D printer, captured by Computing at the recent GEEK-Play exhibition in Margate.
The exhibition featured a wealth of independent game developers showing off their creations, in addition to many VR-ready titles playable on the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
Situated in a quiet corner of the main indie developers room, the 3D printer, a 'Witbox 2', churned out shapes and toys all day, including a crab complete with jointed legs.
Last year Microsoft made it easier for home enthusaists to try the technology at home, when they released the Windows 10 IoT Core app with 3D printing feature for the Raspberry Pi 3, offering support for 13 different 3D printers with a promise of more to come.
That was just a few months after HP launched the 'world's first' production-reading 3D printers, enabling businesses to quickly produce prototype objects or even small-scale production runs.
The HP Jet Fusion 3D Printing Solution is a step up from the hobbyist 3D printers that have grown in popularity over the past few years, but is also designed to deliver production-quality parts up to 10 times faster and at half the cost of current commercial 3D print systems, HP claimed.
So fans of the film will be able to own their own 3D printed Groots.
