Intermedia-AnyMeeting tie-up continues unified comms consolidation

Companies target SMBs with new cloud app and UC bundle

Cloud business application provider Intermedia has acquired California-based AnyMeeting, a web conferencing and webinar provider. The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, will round out the company's UCaaS platform for SMBs and partners.

Intermedia CEO Michael Gold said that UCaaS solutions will soon be the company's largest product line, providing SMBs with "a suite of easy-to-use applications that will increase productivity through enhanced collaboration." For example, AnyMeeting's web conferencing capabilities will be integrated into Intermedia's 30 existing cloud-based business apps, such as file sharing, email and IAM.

"These applications will provide an integrated communication and collaboration experience for Intermedia's customers to enjoy and for partners to sell, delivering a highly reliable, flexible and scalable UC solution versus other products on the market today," Gold added.

The first integrated UCaaS solution is expected to be available in early 2018. AnyMeeting's existing services will continue without disruption, and Intermedia will provide additional investments and its own product line to AnyMeeting customers.

The acquisition is a continuation of the vendor consolidation that we have been seeing in the unified communications market, and which Intermedia itself has been the target of: it was acquired by private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners in February. The AnyMeeting deal is Intermedia's first acquisition since then.
