What will the next 50 years bring to tech?
We're 50 this year, and it's time to look to the future
2023 marks Computing's 50th anniversary, so we brought staff and readers together to look at the future: What will the IT industry look like in 2073?
We're celebrating our anniversary all year - at our events, awards and right here on the Computing website.
Earlier in the year we looked back at the last 50 years to see what has changed since 1973 - it was a lot - and now we're gazing ahead to the next half century.
In the video above Computing editor Tom Allen, associate editor Penny Horwood and Profusion CEO Natalie Cramp tell us what they think the secret is to Computing's long-lasting success, and then move on to their own predictions for the IT industry.
Forecasting the future is never easy, and the answers cover a range of topics: from the spread of AI to tech as a force for social good.
How do you think tech and the IT industry will change over the next five decades?
We'll be doing lots more around our anniversary at our events later this year: the Cloud Excellence Awards in September; the IT Leaders Summit and Women in Tech Festival in October; and, of course, the industry-leading UK IT Awards and Women in Tech Excellence Awards in November.
