The System Components hub will be part of the Windows 11 23H2 update, which is expected to debut in the coming weeks.

The tech giant introduced the new feature in a Release Preview build for Windows 11 Insiders released last week.

Techosarusrex, a Windows enthusiast and Twitter user, noticed the distinct System Components section in the Windows 11 Settings, under the "System" menu. Upon launching this option from the Settings menu, all the system-related apps appear under this dedicated section.

One key benefit of the new hub is its ability to simplify the process of managing default apps, extensions, codecs, and other system-related programmes on Windows 11.

Although Microsoft is currently testing the System Components feature in Windows 11 23H2, it wouldn't be surprising to see it eventually make its way to version 22H2.

This is because Windows 11 23H2 serves as a cumulative update for version 22H2, and is designed to reset the Windows support cycle.

In addition to the Settings page, Microsoft is also introducing a System Components label in the Start menu and the Microsoft Store. This label will serve as a quick identifier for system-related apps and components.

Microsoft has been working to simplify the separation of system apps for quite some time, with the initial change appearing in July on the Dev channel. This change involved labelling stock apps in the Start menu icons with "System" instead of "Microsoft."

Windows 11 includes various system apps like Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Store and Microsoft Photos, which cannot be uninstalled. Other stock apps, such as Calculator, can be uninstalled using the new Settings page.

Windows 11 23H2 is officially named the Windows 11 2023 Update.

Microsoft publicly announced this version in July, confirming that the system requirements will remain unchanged.

The primary purpose of the Windows 11 2023 Update is to reset the Windows support cycle, ensuring it receives updates for a longer duration compared to Windows 11 22H2.
