Gemma Hyde is the Deputy Director of Digital Delivery at the Crown Prosecution Service working to harness the power of digital and data to deliver justice through reducing delays in the system and improving the public experience.
Gemma leads the teams responsible for new tools that allow lawyers to view and search evidence in a more intuitive way saving thousands of hours in the next year, experimenting with how technology can transform processes, and digitising witness expenses and jury bundles.
Recently Gemma won the coveted IT Leader of The Year award at the UK IT Awards.
In their comments, the judges remarked that Gemma had fostered a remarkable culture of innovation in her team, driven by her passion and commitment to ethical leadership.
By focusing on trust, she has created an environment where challenges are welcomed to achieve the best results; and her leadership has led to significant, measurable impact.
Commenting on LinkedIn Gemma said:
“I see this as an award for everyone who works hard to deliver and run our live services and make the work we do possible - too many to name here but congratulations and thank you! It is also for everyone who uses our tools, and the judges of the awards particularly commented on the importance of our work at CPS.
“It was a historic year as it’s the first time both the winner and highly commended IT Leader of the Year have been women from the public sector – which is brilliant to see as we work to grow more female digital leadership in the sector.”
