Gary McAllister

Part of the IT Leaders 100 - a list of the most influential IT leaders in the UK in 2024.

Gary is an accomplished technology leader with extensive healthcare sector experience. He currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer at One London, providing strategic technology leadership across several regional NHS programmes. He has also held senior IT roles at prominent NHS organisations like Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, where he was the Chief Technology Officer for over 7 years.

During his tenure at Guy's and St Thomas', Gary was responsible for technical strategy, architectural design and assurance across major initiatives such as the Epic EMR implementation, London Cancer Alliance South East, AI Centre development, and transitioning Royal Brompton. He also revamped the Trust's IT strategy in 2016.

Previously, McAllister led architecture development for the OneLondon regional health record programme as CTO. He has delivered innovative solutions like electronic portals, e-notation platforms, and data-sharing initiatives while championing agile, DevOps and software best practices. His healthcare IT experience also includes roles at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as a Technical Architect and Development Team Lead for nearly a decade.
